GUN OWNER RIGHTS
A PROJECT OF NEBRASKA TAXPAYERS FOR FREEDOM

 I. EXPLANATION & OBJECTIVE:  
Congressional liberals stand mobilized to pass a number of Brady Bills to outlaw many kinds of firearms, e.g.,  shotguns, handguns, etc. now used by law-abiding citizens to protect lives and property.  Next, gun controllers want to make it illegal even to possess specific kinds of ammunition, and to tax other ammunition prohibitively.  Then, they want to outlaw many firearm accessories such as reloaders and magazines that hold more than a  specific number of cartridges.  Indeed, our foes seek to gut the 2nd Amendment to our beloved Constitution.  
Congressional gun controllers slowly but relentlessly want to deprive patriotic citizens of the right to protect themselves, while violent criminals roam free, preying on that very disarmed citizenry.  We must lobby our national representatives on Capitol Hill to guarantee our constitutional right to keep and bear arms for lawful purposes.

II.  EXPLANATION & OBJECTIVE:  
Liberal state senators for the last several years have continually pushed an agenda of disarmament on the Nebraska citizenry.  Sen. Brad Ashford, working with Handgun Control, Inc., finally passed his burdensome registration bill in 1990, which has resulted in massive work overloads for law enforcement agencies, Orwellian computer files on law-abiding citizens who have chosen to register firearms, and relative impunity for violent criminals who either obtain guns illegally or do register them, confident that cursory background checks will not reveal  
their criminal histories.  Now liberal senators want to tighten the computerized registration noose around the necks of gun owners and select additional sporting, hunting, and personal defense firearms, together with their ammunition, for restriction and banning.  We must lobby our legislators in Lincoln to guarantee our constitutional right to freely keep and bear arms, particularly carry concealed weapons, for legitimate purposes.

GENERAL DIRECTIONS:  
Search media sources, gun periodicals, and NTF newsletters and handouts for anti-gun and pro-gun legislation.  
Obtain copies of congressional and legislative bills and study them. 
Call, fax, or E-mail your national or local legislator for bill copies (NTF has limited numbers of bills).  
Lobby your congressman and state senator through writing, calling, personal visitation, or testifying.  
At monthly NTF meetings, inform other members about results of your lobbying. 
Friendly, hostile, or indifferent answers from your elected officials.  
Write guest editorials to local newspapers and call local radio talk shows.  
Monitor your local school curriculum for bias on this issue, and counter bias by supplying pro-gun materials.
